GNU sed
Stream editor for filtering and transforming text.

Sed isn't really a true text editor or text processor. Instead, it is used to filter text, i.e., it takes text input and performs some operation (or set of operations) on it and outputs the modified text. Sed is typically used for extracting part of a file using pattern matching or substituting multiple occurrences of a string within a file.

GNU zip
gzip (GNU zip) is a popular data compression program for the GNU project. It was developed as a replacement for compress because of the Unisys and IBM patents covering the LZW algorithm used by compress. These patents made it impossible to use compress, and a replacement was needed. The superior compression ratio of gzip is just a bonus.

Areca Backup
